ATO Records has reissued Mike Doughty's 2000 solo acoustic LP SKITTISH and 2003 EP ROCKITY ROLL as a two-disc set with bonus tracks.
SKITTISH was recorded in one day in 1996. But the album was shelved for four years, seemingly doomed to be another unheard masterpiece -- until Napster came along. The SKITTISH sessions had leaked online, and sensing a groundswell of enthusiasm for these stripped-down songs, Doughty pressed up a batch to sell at shows, packaged in a plain white paper sleeve with nothing but a label with a tracklist printed on it. ROCKITY ROLL followed in 2003; the low-fi EP supplements Doughty's smart acoustic songs with drum machine beats and synthesizer, all of which he played or programmed himself.
The bonus tracks include two previously unreleased outtakes from the SKITTISH sessions ("I Failed To Use It" and "Laundrytown"); two live recordings from the 2004 Bonnaroo Music Festival ("The Only Answer" and "Move On (Bloom Like the Sunlight in My Song)"; and "Get Along," originally written and recorded for the independent film EVENHAND.
